Science week is always really busy in the College and this year was no exception. Displays adorned St. Patrick’s Hall highlighting STEM careers, ‘SciFlix’ (Science documentaries and movies which are available on Netflix), Science Fun Facts and Nobel prizes. A new addition was ‘Chemistry Fun Facts’ which replaced Chemistry of Covid. We had a display of ‘Women in Science’ in the CADLC. There were also posters of celebrities, sports stars and actors stating their Science Degree and where they graduated from.

Dave's Jungle
Dave’s Jungle visited again this year. He delighted our students with pythons, tarantulas, scorpions to name a few. Dave highlighted the unique adaptive features the animals displayed to make them so successful in the wild. The students got up close to the animals bringing biology alive in the classroom.
Student Vs Teacher Debate
On Thursday, there was a lively Student Vs Teacher debate on the motion that ‘This House celebrates the rise of chat GPT in the world of education’. Our teacher team of Mr. Orrock, Mr. Maher and Mr. O’Sullivan were successful in proposing the motion. Peter O’Connor, Ishaan Pandey (Best speaker) and Aran O’Flaherty certainly held their own during the debate. The week ended with our 6th years attending a Genetics Lecture from Professor Jane Farrar and 3rd years participating in a spirited Science Quiz.
