RIP Andrew O’Donnell and Max Wall
It was with enormous shock, incredulity, and sadness that we learnt of the passing of Andrew O’Donnell and Max Wall, from the St. Michael’s class of 2023, in Ios, Greece over the weekend.
We extend our deepest sympathy to their families. It is every parent’s worst nightmare. Our prayers and thoughts at this time of immeasurable grief are with them.
Many of our boys are in Ios and we urge them to stay close to one another and to their friends from St. Michael’s. Our 6th Year leadership team has contacted the boys offering our support.
I spoke with Tim Kelleher, the St. Michael’s Principal, offering the support and sympathy of the extended Blackrock community.
I know that our Union President, John O’Doherty, has contacted his counterpart in the St. Michael’s Union and our Parent Council officers, Sarah McLoughlin and Cliona Sherwin, have been in touch with their Parent representative groups.
I visited St. Michael’s on Monday to sign the Book of Condolences on behalf of the College. The College flag is at half-mast.
There was a suggestion that we would open Books of Condolence here in Blackrock but on reflection, we believe that it would be better to visit St. Michael’s to sign in solidarity with them.
God Bless,
Alan MacGinty
