Junior Debating – Sion Hill Junior MACE 2023

On Saturday April 29th, Brian Carroll (3rd Year) competed in the Sion Hill Junior MACE.

Motions:

• This House Would ban space exploration.
• This House Would have all students in secondary school take part in extra-curricular activities.
• This House Suggests social media becoming the main source of news distribution.
• This House Would allow a group and compassion and benevolent aliens become the world’s dictators.

There were 22 teams from 9 different schools, with 3 teams from Loreto Beaufort and 1 team from Belvedere progressing to the finals – Belvedere won this MACE.

Brian ranked 15th in the tab among 40 students – he should be very proud of himself, and we look forward to hosting the Sion Hill students in the future in more debating events between Sion Hill and Blackrock College.
