BT Young Scientist 2023

This years BT Young Scientist Exhibition returned to the RDS after a 3 year absence.

Lochlan Gulliver (2nd Year) and Daniel Spencer (4th Year) were selected from thousands of entrants to present their projects.

Daniel’s project : “Should We Have a No Shoe Rule in the Bedroom?”

Lochlan’s project: “Automatic Self Watering Plant Pot”

It was a long week but a great experience for them both. On Tuesday evening, Lochlan Gulliver and Daniel Spencer began preparing their stands. They set up their posters and their displays in preparation for the 3 days of judging to follow. On Wednesday, both met with one official judge and 3 guest visitors.

On Thursday all the 2nd Year and 4th Year students of Blackrock went to the RDS accompanied by their teachers to view all the displays and to show Lochlan and Daniel support!

On Thursday and Friday, there were 2 further visits from the judges, and on Friday evening, the awards ceremony took place in the BT arena. There were many prizes from the BT Young Scientist sponsors and also the main awards.

We congratulate both Lochlan and Daniel on representing the school so well, and a special congratulations to Lochlan, who won 2nd place for the individual project in the category of Ecological Sciences.
