Basketball – U19 All-Ireland Schools’ Cup Quarter Final v Knockbeg College

U-19 Basketball Ireland All-Ireland School Cup
Quarter Final
November 2022

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 43 | KNOCKBEG COLLEGE 53 |
Commiserations to Captain Maitiu Heckman (6th Year) and his squad on this quarter-final defeat. Knockbeg College were very strong and deserved their win. Their physicality was a significant element of the game, and they possessed an outstanding Irish international who scored 36 points for them.
Luke Brophy (6th Year) was superb on defence. Eric Brandt (6th Year) with 11 points was excellent on offence and typified the spirit in the squad in never giving up. Aaron O’Halloran (4th Year) with 9 points from the bench made a real impact also.
While in the immediate aftermath defeat is of course hugely disappointing but this is our first season for 50 years in the A division and to reach the last 8 is a massive achievement.
We thank our coaches Mr O’Neill, Barry O’Sullivan (Class of 2018), Roberto Brusasca (2019) and Seán Lardner (Class of 2019) for their preparation of the squad.
