Basketball – U16 v St Aidans – U16 Basketball League Plate Competition

U-16 Basketball League Plate Competition
Semi-Final
December 2022

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 59 | ST AIDAN’S CC 47 |
After a difficult run in the A league this year our junior team, captained by Aaron O’Halloran (TYr), has reached the final of the Plate Competition. In a tight affair, we led by one point with three-pointers and quick shots from Aaron O’Halloran (TYr) and Peter Lee (2nd Year) at the end of the 1st quarter. At half-time, it was 29-29.
In the third quarter through a great three-pointer from Peter Lee, quick rebounding by Gearoid Nutley (3rd Year) and fast breaks to the basket by Aaron O’Halloran, we pulled ahead.
In the final quarter Mateo Navarro (3rd Year) intercepted multiple passes, creating opportunities for fast breaks, while Callum Dee (3rd Year) secured numerous defensive rebounds that helped keep St. Aidan’s score low.
Leading the offensive charge were Aaron O’Halloran, who had a fantastic game with 41 points, and Peter Lee (11 points). The team can be proud of their work together in the semi-final. Their strong and consistent efforts on offence and defence against a competitive St. Aidan’s side paid off.
We thank Ms Fitzsimons and her team of coaches Rory Linnane (Class of 2017), Barry O’Sullivan (Class of 2018) and Roberto Brusasca (Class of 2019).
