The U14 badminton team had their first game of the season on Wednesday 11th January. Blackrock got off to a good start with two wins in their single game by Aidan Ho (30-23) and Cian Manning (30-22). Adrian Ho, twin brother of Aidan, was narrowly beaten by his opposition on the day. Mark Sukhodolov on a very close game lost by one point (29-30). Although displaying some positive play the boys unfortunately didn’t win in the doubles.

The performance gives hope for the future given that all players are new to the badminton league and stayed competitive throughout. Many lessons can be learned from this experience and improved on in training and subsequent competitions.

It was great to have fellow panel members Carlos Bellon Gonzalez, Jose Carlos De La Cuesta and Illia Ishechienko (all 2nd year) in attendance to support their teammates. These boys have shown great dedication in weekly training and showing improvements on the badminton court.
