Our Whole School Community gathered in Des Places Hall, our Sports Hall, as we celebrated the excellent start to the new school year and also the Feast Day of Claude Poullart des Place, co-founder of the Spiritan Congregation, whose feast day falls on Monday 2nd October.
Fr. Paddy Moran, CSSp. presided and reminded the boys of the “importance of commitment to service, of giving of their best”. Chairman of the Student Council, Liam McMahon led the community in the College prayer and the 6th Year House Captains – Art Lynch and Curtis Winklemann (Ebenrecht), Barry O’Sullivan and Liam Turner (De Valera), Matthew Curran and Ross Phelan (Duff), Niall Brady and Josh Slevin (Leman), Josh Dixon and Harry Donnelly (McQuaid), Neil Holohan and Liam McMahon (Shanahan) – were commissioned by Fr. Moran.
The Libermann Cup, the award for the Best Overall House for 2016/17 was presented to Art and Curtis (both 6th Year), the Captains of Ebenrecht House. Josh Slevin (6th Year) reflected on his experience on the recent Dublin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Louis O’Reilly (6th Year) spoke about the summer tour to New Zealand and how grateful all 44 tourists are to their parents and their coaches.
