WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE!
The Des Places Sports Hall rocked as our Cheerleaders led the school population (1st through to 6th Year) in preparation for the forthcoming Cup campaigns.
Jack Loscher (3rd Year) (Vice-Captain of the J.C.T.) – Captain Gavin Jones (3rd Year) was unavailable – urged the school to get behind the Junior Squad.
Guest speaker, George Hook, before presenting the jerseys to the Senior Squad, urged all the boys to appreciate their heritage, the tradition that they hold in safekeeping for future generations and to respect it – “Blackrock is much more than a Rugby School”.
S.C.T. Captain Caelan Doris (6th Year) spoke superbly about the importance of the support of the school, that we must shun complacency – “Cup matches can go either way” – and support the Squads.
A great occasion. I congratulate and thank David Fenn and our Cheerleaders, our Lion Video Team of Patrick O’Callaghan, Alex Ryan, Glenn Fetherston and Carl Murray (all 6th Year), our Maintenance and Household colleagues, Deputy Principal, Deans and Teachers in attendance.
