U19 and U16 Basketball V Holy Child
BASKETBALL ~ EAST LEINSTER LEAGUE
U19: HOLY CHILD … 27 V. BLACKROCK COLLEGE … 60
Our Senior Squad continued their fantastic start to the season with this League victory. To score 60 points is a real sign of improvement from ‘Rock in terms of the conversion rate of the chances created. Captain Calum Henry (6th Year) scored 15 points and Rhys Hennessey (5th Year), who came off the bench, scored six points.
The extended Squad has really stepped up in the last two games. Stephen Rooney (6th Year) scored 4 points in the final quarter, but the entire Squad maintained the performance level of the team throughout which has created significant competition for places.
16: HOLY CHILD … 28 V. BLACKROCK COLLEGE … 30
After the disappointment of the loss in the Schools’ Cup Michael Ryan (3rd Year) and his Squad bounced back with a great win.
In an exciting close-fought match, victory was secured through excellent defence, particularly by Robert Kelly and Sean Carney (both 3rd Year), – we didn’t concede a score in the final quarter – and great scoring from Michael Ryan (12 points) and Sean Lardner (3rd Year) (12 points). Sean delivered the two free throws that won the match with just 90 seconds left.
I thank our Coaches Mr O’Neill and Shane Kelly (Class of 2013) for their preparation of both Squads.
