U-16 BASKETBALL
East Leinster shield semi-final
BLACKROCK COLLEGE 24 POBAIL SCOIL NEASAIN 50
Losing a semi-final is always a tough one to take and this semi-final was no different. Our boys could not be faulted for heart or character but unfortunately on the day Pobail Scoil Neasain were on form and got a deserved victory.
The game was effectively lost in the first two quarters as Pobail Scoil Neasain opened up a twenty point gap. However the boys never gave up and the third and fourth quarters were a much more even affair. Mark Crowley (Captain – 3rd year) led by example on 12 points offensively.
Our second year contingent of Michael Ryan, Tadgh Egan and Abdullah Durrani made an excellent contribution in general play and also gained valuable game experience.
This is an extremely talented squad that has come a long way and are very close to winning competitions outright. If a physically powerful forward could be added under the boards then this squad will be in a great position next season.
Hard luck to all the squad.
I thank coaches Mr. O’Neill and Shane Kelly (class of 2013) for their work with the boys.
