‘Celebrating Grandparents’
Fr Gerry Kane, P.P. at Booterstown Parish, was our chief celebrant this morning. In an excellent homily, he urged the boys to pray honestly, to think and say what they feel, to remove the veil between what we say and who we are. All of us, he said, have abilities and disabilities; we should watch out for one another. May we never be short of those who need our help – Christ didn’t heal everybody, he left some of that work to us. On this occasion, we welcomed the grandparents of the boys to the College recognising their special relationship and vital role. It was an excellent liturgy. Dave Fennessy (Class of 1972), President of our St Vincent de Paul Past and Present conference, spoke after communion. He thanked the families of T.Y. for their fantastic support, over €106K was raised this Christmas, and assured them that it would be put to good use providing educational support as well as short term relief.
President of the Union, Eunan O’Carroll (Class of 1984) also a parent in T.Y., accompanied by his wife Judy, bridged the gap between past and present.
I thank Fr Gerry, Fr Nash, Ms O’Kane, Mr Grumley Traynor, Ms McGlynn, Mr O’Neill, Mr Brennan, Mr Herlihy, Mr O’Reilly, Mr Prendergast, our Eucharistic Ministers, Liam McMahon, Kelvin Hickey (both 6th Year) and our parents in attendance. We are so pleased that you made the effort to be there.
