Transition Year Family Mass
TRANSITION YEAR FAMILY MASS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chief Celebrant Fr. Paddy Dundon told the assembled Transition Years, their parents, grandparents and siblings that the T.Y. programme was an example of Faith in Practice exemplified by the care for others through Pastoral Placements, St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal, work with the Homeless, Faith Friends, Goal-Aidlink, St Patrick’s Day Badge project and the Development Education trips to Kenya and India.
“Here am I. Send me!”. (Isaiah)
It was a fabulous liturgy and we were delighted to welcome so many grandparents who are “a source of enrichment for families, for the church and for all of society … may they continue to be for their families strong pillars of gospel faith and guardians of noble domestic ideals” (Grandparents’ Prayer).
Dave Fennessy (Class of 1972), Chairman of our St Vincent Paul Conference addressed the Congregation at the end of Mass, thanking them for their phenomenal support which realised €108,000 last Christmas.
I thank the President of the Union, Mr David Coen (Class of 1986) for his presence at the Mass; our Concelebrating Community, Ministers of the Eucharist Colm O’Flaherty, Declan Kelly, Michael Launders, Odhran Linders and David Sharpe (all 6th Year), Sacristan Ms Irene Dunne and my Colleagues Ms O’Kane, Mr Grumley Traynor, Ms O’Connor, Mr Ryan, Mr Goan, Mr O’Reilly, Ms McMahon and Mr Brennan for their organisation of the Liturgy and preparation of the boys and, of course, the boys themselves and their families.
