Transition Year Dragons Den Final 2017

Transition Year
Dragons Den Final 2017
Congratulations to Duran Osan on winning the 9th Annual Dragons Den competition, with his business ‘Grind Gymwear’ which produces a wide range of clothing for gym use. In 2nd place were Seán Lardner and Liam Duncan with ‘DL Gardening and Labour Services’ and in 3rd place was Rhys Rowlands with ‘Blackrock College Union Business Directory’. Congratulations also to our other finalists Shore Oluborode with ‘Shore’s Snax’ and Ruairi Moore, MacDara Fahy and Andrew Ryan with ‘Healthier Planet, Healthier You’.
The standard was exceptionally high. The Dragons were hugely impressed by the engagement of the TY Year group in the presentations and the respect they paid their peers who were presenting. Huge credit must go to all finalists for developing their idea to this point as it represents several months work and the standard was certainly indicative of their endeavours over the course of the year on the project. The challenge now is to continue to develop and grow their business beyond Dragons Den and the Business Department is certainly available to assist with all aspects of this.
We thank the College Union for their continued support for exciting initiative. A special word of thanks to the Dragons themselves present today and indeed throughout the process for their guidance of the boys; Paul McGowan (Chairperson, Class of 1981), Aidan Corless (Class of 1979), Greg Moore and Eoin Gibson (Both Class of 1982), Roger Bannon (Class of 1969) and Mark Cummins (Class of 2001).
I thank Mr O’Neill for facilitation of the competition.
