TABLE TENNIS
ALL-IRELAND FINALS
In an 8th Junior Final in 9 years, Blackrock are once again Junior Irish Champions, with back to back All-Ireland Junior Titles, and a 4th Title in 5 years.
A Semi-Final 5-1 victory, over Munster Champions CBC Cork, gave the Juniors a final against Ulster Champions Royal Academy Belfast, where the scoreline was again 5-1.
With Junior Captain Joey Nelson on duty with the Senior Team, the Team was captained on the day by Barry O’Keeffe (4th Year) and was made up of David Campbell, Sean Carney, Robert Kelly & Duran Osan (all 3rd Year), Andrew Doyle, Colm Hogan, Conor Hughes & Lorcan Patchell (all 2nd Year).
Blackrock Seniors were appearing in their 7th Finals in a row, and going for 6-in-a-row Senior titles. A Semi-Final win 5-0 against Ulster Champions Royal School Cavan, brought up a Final against old rivals and Connacht Champions St. Louis’, where the Seniors went down 3-5 in a desperately tight match that could have gone either way. The team was made up of Rory Murphy, Laurence Shields (both 6th Year), Stephen Campbell, Charlie Fitzgerald, Captain Louis Murphy (all 5th Year) and Joey Nelson (4th Year).
This is an incredible performance by both Squads in a very competitive sport.
Congratulations to all involved particularly Head Coach Richard Butler and his Assistant Coaches Andrew Campbell, Stefan Kelly, Conal Molumby and Paul O’Kelly (all Class of 2015).
