ALL-IRELAND CHAMPIONS!
For the second time in three years, Blackrock completed the All Ireland treble, taking all three titles at the All-Ireland Schools Finals in Tallaght on Wednesday 6 May, 2015.
BLACKROCK SENIORS, appearing in a 6th consecutive Senior Final, and captained by Andrew Campbell (6th Year), took the Senior Title for the fifth year in a row, equalling the all-time record for consecutive wins, with a 5-1 Semi-final win over Ulster Champions Ballyclare HS, followed by a 5-0 scoreline, in the Final over Munster Champions CBS The Green. The Squad was made up of Stephen Campbell (4th Year), Rory Murphy, Laurence Shields (both 5th Year), Andrew Campbell, Stefan Kelly, Conal Molumby, Geoffrey O’Connor and Paul O’Kelly (all 6th Year).
BLACKROCK JUNIORS, captained by Charlie Fitzgerald (4th Year), made their 7th Final in 8 years, and 3rd title in 4 years, with a 5-0 win against Kinsale CS from Munster, followed by a hard-fought 5-2 win against the 2014 Champions, St. Louis’ CS from Connacht. The Squad was made up of Mike Hayes, Robert Kelly, Evan McCool, Philip Moran, Joe Thornton (all 2nd Year), Harry Donnelly, Joey Nelson, Barry O’Keeffe, Shaun Towlson (all 3rd Year), Charlie Fitzgerald and Louis Murphy (both 4th Year).
BLACKROCK MINORS, in a 3rd Final in 4 years, and captained by David Campbell (2nd Year), came through 5-3 against St. Gerald’s from Connacht, with a more comfortable Final against Malone from Belfast giving a 5-1 victory and second ever All-Ireland Minor title. The Squad was made up of Tom Brophy, David Campbell, Scott Cullinane, Michael Ennis, Eoin Flanagan, Robert Kelly and Christian Young (all 2nd Year).
