TABLE TENNIS
The End-of-Year Table Tennis Awards Ceremony took place in the College Lecture Hall on Monday evening, 30th May 2016. Mr Rob Cowan, Chairman Elect of Table Tennis Ireland, presented the Leinster and All-Ireland Medals to our Junior and Senior Teams.
It was another extraordinary year for Blackrock Table Tennis, with an 8th consecutive Senior Cup as well as our 6th consecutive Leinster Double and of course, Winners of the Junior All-Ireland, our 4th Title in 5 years, while Runners-up in the senior event.
Our Senior Squad played in the World Schools Tournament in Israel. Charlie Fitzgerald, Louis Murphy (both 5th Year) and Joey Nelson (4th Year) all received representative honours at National and Provincial level.
The next World School Tournament is in Malta in 2018. The All Ireland Schools Senior Champions of 2017 will represent Ireland – the challenge has been set!
The PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARDS were presented to Conor Hughes (2nd Year), Minor, Joey Nelson (4th Year), Junior, Charlie Fitzgerald (5th Year), Senior and Overall Player of The Year Louis Murphy (5th Year).
I thank Head Coach Richard Butler and past students Andrew Campbell, Stefan Kelly, Conal Molumby, Paul O’Kelly (Class of 2015), Mark Doyle (Class of 2013), Matt Finlay, Will Gallagher (Class of 2012) and Rory O’Dea (Class of 2011) for their coaching and delivery of Blackrock Table-Tennis.
