Swimming – Leinster Schools Championships

Leinster Schools Swimming Competitions
Our relay teams and individual swimmers were to the fore in the Leinster Schools Championships held in the Aquatic Centre last Sunday, 22nd October.
Our Intermediate Freestyle and Medley teams of Ethan Murtagh, Adam O’Reilly and Ciaran Conway (all 3rd Year) and David Cosgrave (4th Year) won Gold.
Our senior Medley team of Rhys Rowlands, Max McKenna and Max Connolly (all 5th Year) and Jack Flynn (6th Year) finished 2nd while our Freestyle team finished 1st only to be disqualified.
The results were very good individually with many swimmers achieving personal best times. The competition highlighted the need for the swimmers to come along to the College sessions to practice relay starts and takeovers as we had a number of disqualifications with a loss of one gold and two bronze medals. Ethan Murtagh had an amazing gala with 2 gold, 1 silver and a bronze individual medals and 2 gold relay medals. Thanks to Matthew Long (Class of 2016) who attended as assistant coach and Theo Stephens-Kehoe (5th Year) who attended, though injured as reserve for the senior team.
Many thanks to Cristina Mei who gave a huge amount of time contacting swimmers and supporting us on the day. I thank Ms Walsh for her preparation of our swimmers.
