Swimming Gala – Thursday 19th October 2017

Swimming Gala, Thursday 19th October 2017
A great turn out for our Annual Swimming Gala as 32 races were run off with usual efficiency by Mr Vanstone and his team. The atmosphere was electric and our 6th Years provided a lead through their enthusiasm and spirit.
The feature event, The Principal’s Trophy was won by Max Connolly (5th Year) with David Cosgrave (4th Year) a close second. Adam O’Reilly (3rd Year) won the Junior Championship from Ciaran Conway (3rd Year) in another very competitive race.
This year’s House events were evenly divided. Leman House won the 2nd and 5th Year Competitions; Ebenrecht won in 4th Year with De Valera successful in 3rd Year; McQuaid won 6th Year and also had the honour of being the best overall house with Leman 2nd. I congratulate the Deans and House Captains on the excellent turnout.
It was a great evening, superbly organised.
I thank my colleagues Mr Vanstone, Mr Pickering, Mr Evan O’Brien, Ms White, Mr Rowsome, Mr Goodwin, Mr Herlihy, Ms Nolan, Ms Markey, Ms Harlowe, Mr Dunne, Ms Dobbyn, Mr Ryan, David Murphy (Class of 2013) and Alan Sheridan and his Household team and of course the students in attendance, particularly 6th Year, for making it possible.
