STUDENT CONGRESS 2015
The Student Congress held in the CA&DL Centre on Tuesday evening last (12th May 2015) provided an opportunity for the House Captains to assemble and review the year.
Student Council Secretary, Rory Patterson (5th Year) delivered his annual report. Student Council Chairman Joshua Kieran Glennon led discussions on Sports and Family Day, the Student Council profile, the Food Committee, links with the Boarding School, the Leadership Training for House Captains, their election and number.
It was proposed that those wishing to be a House Captain should be nominated and seconded in advance of the meeting at which the election will take place. Even if the election was uncontested, the candidates should address the House.
It was an excellent Congress. Unfortunately, the Transition Year representatives were away on Work Experience and unavailable, but otherwise it was very well attended with 11 (out of 12) from 2nd Year, 11 (out of 12) from 3rd Year and 7 (out of 12) from both 5th and 6th Year.
I thank the Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Council – Joshua Kieran Glennon, Greg O’Meara (both 6th Year) and Rory Patterson for their organisation of the Congress.
