We congratulate captains Aaron Horgan (6th Year 1st team), Luke O’Hara (6th Year 2nd team), and their respective squads on retaining both trophies last Saturday, 9th March.
The 2nds played superb football throughout and were comfortable winners over a game St Bede’s side with goals by Tony Smurfit (6th Year) (2), Gary Galvin (6th Year) (2), Colm Cooney (6th Year) (2), David Campbell (5th Year), and Luke O’Hara.
The 1st game was a different proposition as we trailed 0-2 at halftime. Goals from Aaron Horgan and Camilo Fernandez (5th Year) brought the game to a penalty shoot-out in which 2 saves from Aaron O’Sullivan (5th Year) and goals from Aaron Horgan, Jack Tonge (6th Year), William Griffin (5th Year) and Michael O’Keane (6th Year) secured victory.
The St Bede’s squad and staff attended the Ireland-Scotland match in the afternoon and were also welcome members of the congregation at the 5th Year Family Mass on the Sunday.
We are delighted with our relationship with St Bede’s which is made possible by the families who host the boys. I thank my colleagues Mr Evan O’Brien and Ms Mullen who manage the logistics and prepare the teams. St Bede’s now lead 6-8 (wins) in the 1st eleven and we lead 7-5 in the 2nd eleven series.
Already looking forward to next year!
