SENIOR SOCCER
ST. BEDE’S, MANCHESTER
WEEKEND VISIT: 6TH – 8TH MARCH 2015
A Squad of 28 boys travelled to Manchester last weekend for our Annual Challenge Matches with St. Bede’s.The result did not go our way with 1st XI losing 0-4 and the 2nd XI beaten 1-3. Aside from this, it was an excellent weekend.
After the games both Captains, David Walsh (2nds) and Seán O’Dowd (1st) (both 2nd Year), spoke about how much they had been looking forward to the weekend all year and they thanked the host families for allowing the Blackrock boys to stay with them over the weekend.
After the trophy presentations the Squads travelled to the DW Stadium to watch the Wigan V. Leeds game. Our Leeds fans, Conor Cowhey and Seán O’Dowd, were delighted with the 1-0 win for Leeds.
On Sunday Morning the boys assembled in St. Bede’s Chapel for a Prayer Service with their host families and the staff from both Schools. The Priest, during the liturgy, talked about the importance of the link that has been created by the two schools and also the importance of building on the friendships made over the weekend.
I thank Mr Evan O’Brien, Mr Murphy, Mr Sullivan. Fred Kenny (Class of 2014), Dylan O’Reilly and Aaron Pisarnik (Class of 2013) for their preparation of the Teams and for their leadership of the tour.
