SENIOR CRICKET FINAL
ALF O’CONNELL TROPHY
v. Colaiste Phadraig
We commiserate with Captain Harry Lloyd (6th Year) and his Cricket Squad on their loss to Colaiste Phadraig, Lucan by 43 runs in the Final of the Alf O’Connell Cup last Monday, 18th May, 2015.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Colaiste Phadraig got off to a good start reaching 86 for 1. However, a dedicated fielding performance and some tight bowling from Shane Keane (TY), Andrew Mays and Rory Murphy (both 5th Year) saw the opposition only reach 108 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
The Blackrock run chase never got moving, due to excellent bowling and fielding from Colaiste Phadraig. Harry Lloyd and Andrew Mays both made good starts and looked dangerous, and Rory Murphy down the order made a solid contribution to the total as well. Although disappointed, the team should be proud of their efforts in making the Final.
I thank Mr Pickering for his coaching, encouragement and organisation of the Squad.
