Sacrament of Reconciliation
Reconciliation
A New Beginning, A Fresh Start
At the start of the new school year, each RE class attends the College Chapel where the boys are led in a reflection by their Religion teacher and where they celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. And it is a celebration.
Many people see in penance only its difficult side and its emphasis on sorrow; however, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is intended as a joyful celebration. God calls us to make a new beginning, a fresh start, just like the young man in the gospel story of the Prodigal Son; hence the theme of the reflection…
We are lucky in this school to have a beautiful Chapel for these celebrations. And we are grateful to the clergy who give their time to share this Sacrament: Frs. Vincent Browne, Paddy Dundon, Denis Gavin, Myles Healy, Denis Kennedy, John Kevin, Pat Mangan, Tom Nash, Brendan Smyth & Brendan Ward. Thanks also to each of the Religion teachers who led the reflections. I thank Mr Hurl and Ms McGlynn for their organisation of the week.
And so to the school year, a new beginning, a fresh start…
