Rugby – Inter House 10s Competition
The 5th, 4th and 3rd Year Inter-House Tens Competitions were well contested last Saturday, 10th September.
In 5th Year, McQuaid beat De Valera 19 – 17 in a fantastic final with Ebenrecht and Duff beaten semi-finalists. Shanahan beat Leman 25 – 20 in an exciting 5th – 6th place play off. Dan Foley (De Valera) was player of the tournament.
4th Year was equally close with Leman beating Ebenrecht also by 19 – 17, in an epic final. De Valera and Shanahan were beaten in the semi-finals, while McQuaid edged the 5th – 6th play-off game against Duff. Matthew Flynn (Leman) was player of the tournament.
3rd Year had an A and B competition: in the A competition victory again by 2 points! De Valera beat Lemans with McQuaid and Ebenrecht beaten semi-finalists. Jack Byrne (De Valera) was player of the tournament.
In competition B Leman beat De Valera, with McQuaid and Ebenrecht again, semi-finalists.
It was a pity that the 6th Year competition, due to a poor turnout had to be cancelled on the day. This is not good and is a concern.
I thank our referees – David Gardiner, Christian Delaney, Will Connolly, James Fennelly, Karl Curran, Mr Daly, Mr Fairley, Aaron Fitzgerald and Mark O’Neill – Deans, Co-ordinators and Mr O’Brien our Games Administrator for an excellent event.
NOTE: The 2nd Year Inter-House Competition takes place next Saturday, 17th September @ 12 Noon.
