Rowing – Castleconnel River Competition

Well done to all our rowers who competed at Castleconnel Head of the River, Saturday 26th October, 2019. For many, this was not just the first race of the season but their first time racing a head of the river. This is due to the many cancellations last season, a result of poor weather conditions. Saturday in Castleconnel was a fantastic, sunny day with low winds, a perfect day for racing. Highlights included Guy Mangan in the J14 1x finished in 8th place out of 30 competitors and the J15 A and B Quads came in joint 5th place out of 12 competitors.
I thank coach David Drennan (Class of 2018) for coaching on the day and to all our coaches for preparing our rowers over the past number of weeks for this event. I particularly thank Laura Gannon for her inspiration.
