Rowing – Blessing of our new ‘8’ ‘Libermann’

Blessing Our New ‘8’ ‘Libermann’ Rowing Boat
Wednesday, 31st January 2018
There was a huge gathering of parents, boys, coaches and staff at the Blessing and naming ceremony, ‘Libermann’, of our new ‘8’ in St Patrick’s Hallway on Wednesday evening, 31st January.
Fr Nash blessed the boat and all who will train/race in it. His prayers highlighted the exhilaration within the sport and the trinity of ‘3 T’s’ – teamwork, timing and technique.
“May this reflection prompt my faith, help me to recognise my dependence on You, my team and the need for confidence, in myself, whatever my endeavour”.
I thank our sponsor MJ Flood and we were delighted that Michael Power, Sales Director and father of M.J. (T.Y.) was on hand to address us and celebrate the arrival of ‘Libermann’. We are most grateful.
I thank also Laura Gannon, our head coach, who has been instrumental in bringing rowing to Blackrock; our parents committee led by Mr Niall O’Grady, father of Peter (T.Y.) and Alan Warren, father of Josh (6th Year); Fr Nash for a reflective liturgy and of course the boys for whom all is possible.
