Lunchtime Debate
LUNCHTIME DEBATE
The last lunchtime Debate of 2015 took place in the C.A.D.L. on Thursday 10th December 2015 as Oisin Ryan (4th Year), Scott Donoghue (5th Year) and Stephen Rooney (6th Year) successfully proposed that:
“THIS HOUSE WOULD NOT LIE TO THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF SANTA CLAUS”.
Mark Heavey (5th Year), Marcus O’Faolain and Jordan McDonald (both 6th Year) valiantly opposed.
Existence of Santa Claus?
Of course, he does exist “As certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist and you know that they abound and give to our life its highest beauty and joy” (Sept. 21st, 1897, New York Sun Editorial).
If it says so in the paper – it must be true!
I congratulate the boys on an entertaining debate appreciated by a large gathering.
I thank our Chairman Ben Jordan who shared with John Huggard (both 6th Year) the burden of adjudication.
