Lunchtime Debate

LUNCHTIME DEBATE

  The last lunchtime Debate of 2015 took place in the C.A.D.L. on Thursday 10^th December 2015 as Oisin Ryan (4^th Year), Scott Donoghue (5^th Year) and Stephen Rooney (6^th Year) successfully proposed that:

“THIS HOUSE WOULD NOT LIE TO THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF SANTA CLAUS”.

 Mark Heavey (5^th Year), Marcus O’Faolain and Jordan McDonald (both 6^th Year) valiantly opposed.

 Existence of Santa Claus?

 Of course, he does exist “As certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist and you know that they abound and give to our life its highest beauty and joy” (Sept. 21^st, 1897, New York Sun Editorial).

If it says so in the paper – it must be true!

I congratulate the boys on an entertaining debate appreciated by a large gathering.
