Les Miserables & BCR – The Week that Was!
The Week That Was!
Monday 20th November – Friday 24th November
Time passes quickly and it is hard to believe that it is 2 weeks since Les Miserables and BCR. It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge both of these projects which represented Blackrock at its very best.

By night, we had ‘Les Miserables’. Whether this was the ‘best ever’ or not is immaterial. ‘Les Mis’ was an outstanding production of which we are most proud. Cast, musicians, crew, staff members, boys, girls (of Mount Anville), parents, grand-parents relatives and friends all contributed to an extraordinary show in our iconic Jubilee Hall.
Thank you Mr O’Brien, Mr Grumley-Traynor, Mr Maher, Ms Keenan, Ms Corcoran, Ms O’Kane, Lorraine James, our household and maintenance team for your time, energy, creativity and commitment.
By day, BCR was on air, on 97.3FM, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily with a tremendous mix of Transition Year produced programmes complemented by our guest schools, Sion Hill, Cluny, Wesley and Mount Anville and an array of guests from Politics, Sport and the Arts. This is a phenomenal project. Indeed it is without parallel, delivered by our great Transition Year team of mentors and boys. The message is that everything is possible when everyone is willing to put their shoulder to the wheel. I thank my colleagues who organised programmes.
I thank Mr Brennan, Mr O’Neill, Mr Savage and Mr Sullivan for their leadership and resourcefulness.
