This match was a fitting tribute to Karl Ashe. It had everything, great goals, sublime skill, a competitive spirit – no quarter asked or given – and all played on a pitch, the front lawn, that is on par with the surface at Croke Park.
Ultimately the 6th Year Dayboys beat the 5th Year Dayboys by 4 points. It was a fantastic final. I congratulate the 6th Year co-captains Matthew Curran and Niall Brady and the 5th Year Captain Niall Comerford, their respective squads, for a great occasion.
The trophy and medals were presented at Karl’s bench beside the Castle. Karl will always be with us.
