Homework Schedule for 2nd Year

*RECOMMENDED NIGHTLY STUDY : 2 HOURS MINIMUM*

 

RELIGION

  • 2 Assignments per Week.

 

ART

  • One Hour each Week depending on assignments. Some of our tools are dangerous and cannot be removed from the Art Room or used without adult supervision. Much of the Second Year work is done in class.

 

BUSINESS

  • 30 Minutes written work per Night – the nature of the subject requires a nightly assignment

 

C.S.P.E.

  • One period of homework per week, session (20 minutes) depends on students choice of evening Suggest it is carried out on the same evening as the individual class period. Homework usually based in the workbook

 

ENGLISH

  • 20-30 minutes per night.
  • Oral work nightly.
  • Written assignment each week to include 2-3 essays per term.
  • Pupils should read a minimum of one novel per term.

 

GEOGRAPHY

  • 2 classes per week
  • written homework once per week (20 Mins)
  • oral/study session once per week (10/15 Mins)
  • notice given that there will be tests (on work covered previously) during the week of Progress Cards – 2/3 per term
  • one project per term may be required at the discretion of the teacher

HISTORY

  • Homework 3 times per week.
  • Reading the textbook,
  • Answering questions,
  • Project work.

 

IRISH

HIGHER LEVEL

  • 25 Minutes, Four Nights per Week
  • Written, Aural and Oral Assignments

 

ORDINARY LEVEL

  • 20 Minutes, Four Nights per Week
  • Written, Aural and Oral Assignments

 

LATIN

  • 20-30 Minutes per Night

 

MATHS

  • Nightly 20-30 minutes

 

MODERN LANGUAGES (French/German/Spanish)

  • 20-30 Minutes per Night. Combination of Written and Oral

 

MUSIC

  • Oral work covering class work of that day
  • Short written exercises 3 times per week
  • Practise instrument

 

SCIENCE

  • 1-2 written homework per week depending upon topic: Mon, Tues, 20 Minutes
  • 1-2 oral homework per week depending upon topic: Mon, Tues, 10 Minutes

 

TECHNICAL DRAWING

  • 20 Minutes per Night. One exercise per night is required

 

WOODWORK

  • 15 Minutes per Night. If a drawing is required, a ½-hour period on one of the nights
