Healthy Eating Week
HEALTHY EATING WEEK
2nd – 6th NOVEMBER 2015
I congratulate our Caterers Sodexo on their week built around the provision of Healthy Options as well as Nutritional Advice. The highlights of the week included:
Monday: A selection of raw vegetable crudités with dips on each table in the Ref for lunch and information on hydration.
A noodle and pasta bar for lunch on the back counter with carved to order roast turkey and cranberry for baguettes/wraps for the boys.
Tuesday: A large selection of fruit and berries for the tables with the water and information on the food pyramid.
Wednesday: Information on Carbohydrates and a selection of different salads on each table for the boys to sample.
Thursday: A selection of fruit and berries to share at the tables and information on calorie counting.
Friday: The provision of a new product, a home-made yoghurt. Lillian from EasyYo had a bicycle with a liquidiser attached and got the boys to cycle to make their own smoothies. The boys loved this. The free samples included a cheesecake which is made with 70% yoghurt which means the cheesecake is only 7% fat.
Throughout the week, emphasis was placed on the implementation of the Department of Education Healthy Eating Policy.
An added unexpected extra was an ‘on the spot inspection’ of our kitchen from the HSE on the Friday!
It was an excellent week and I thank Catherine, Albert and our Sodexo Team for their planning, organisation and delivery.
