GOLD MEDAL DEBATE
Congratulations to KEVIN HEAVEY, who won the 6th Year Gold Medal Debate on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 and will be the Valedictorian on Prize Day and at the Graduation Lunch on Sunday 18th May.
He was a deserving winner in a fantastic debate adjudged to be of the highest standard by those that know. Kevin was one of a team of 4, the others being: Jack Brophy, Cormac Berkery and Ryan O’Dea – that successfully proposed the Motion that:
‘THIS HOUSE BELIEVES THAT THE EDUCATION SYSTEM INADEQUATELY PREPARES US FOR THE FUTURE’.
The opposition of Joe Horan, Niall O’Sullivan, Conn McCarrick and Michael Feely also were immense in a debate that engaged and richly entertained their fellow 6th Years. It was, indeed, the finest in many a year. I salute all 8 Speakers. Well done.
Finally, I thank Chairman Mr Byrne, Judges: Mr Sheil,
Ms Kelleher, Ms Dobbyn and Eoin Healy (Class of 2011) and Timekeeper Joshua Kieran-Glennon (5th Year) for their organisation and adjudication of the Debate
