7 Transition Year students will travel to Kenya this month 6th – 20th January):
- Will O’Connell
- Patrick Shannon
- Karl Butler
- Eunan Linders
- Gary Galvin
- Liam McMahon
- Tom Maher
to volunteer in an orphanage for HIV children in the Nyumbani Village, Kitui, Kenya.
A total of 15 students will be travelling, 4 from St Andrew’s and 5 from Cork with 5 parents including Fiona Galvin and Jacinta Shannon (Blackrock mothers).
The trip costs €1,600 which the boys pay themselves and the students are asked to fundraising €900 each for the orphanage.
The boys will spend their time organising sports for the children or planting/harvesting fruit and vegetables.
Great credit is due to the students who have volunteered as it’s not going to be a relaxed trip!
We wish them a safe and fulfilling mission.
