Catholic Schools Week 2018

Catholic Schools Week 2018
Catholic Schools: Called to be a Family of Families
In anticipation of Dublin’s hosting of the World Meeting of Families next August (21st-26th). The theme of this year’s CSW is “called to be a family of families”. It is an invitation to reflect on and celebrate the relationship that exists between home, school and parish.
The Catholic school supports parents in nurturing the gift of faith made challenging “by current lifestyles, work schedule and the complexity of today’s world, where many people keep up a frantic pace just to survive” (Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia). May Blackrock College continue to be a place where one learns ‘to appreciate the meaning and beauty of the faith, to pray and to serve our neighbour’ (Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia).
The week will be celebrated with a display of family trees in the C.A.D.L. centre; adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel on Libermann Day (2nd February); blessing of the throats also on Friday 2nd (also the Feast of St. Blaise); and a display of family events in the school, organised by our Archives Department, on St. Patrick’s Corridor.
St. Patrick’s Corridor also hosts an exhibition on ‘The Irish in Kenya’ for the week.
I thank Mr O’Reilly, Ms McGlynn, Caroline Mullan and Ms Marrey for their organisation of the week’s events.
