Boarders Carol Service
BOARDERS’ CAROL SERVICE
Sunday, 13th December 2015
The Boarders raised the Chapel roof at their annual Carol Service last Sunday evening.
The programme, appreciated by a large gathering of family, friends and College staff provided an excellent mix of Christmas carols and insights on how Christmas is celebrated across the world.
Giovanni Caggiano (4th Year), Riley Dargan, Tadhg O’Maonaigh, Adrian Binder (all 5th Year), Alfonso Figares (4th Year) and Michael Launders (6th Year) shared with us the Christmas experience in Italy, U.S.A., Ukraine, Germany, Spain and Switzerland respectively.
Hugh Egleston (6th Year) reflected on his five Christmases in the Castle as he looked forward with a degree of nostalgia to his last.
At the end of an excellent Service, mince pies and refreshments were served in the basement of the Castle. A lovely evening.
I congratulate Mr Mac Dermott, Ms Fitzgerald, Mr O’Brien, Choirmaster Mr Swan, Bro. Joe Cannon, Fr. Cormac O’Brolchain, our Housemasters Mr Walsh, Mr Daly, Mr Smyth, Ms Scott and Mr Sheridan of Catering and Household and, of course, our Boarders and their families on a wonderful evening.
I thank our President of the Union Mr David Coen (Class of 1986), Fr. Nash, Fr. Dundon, Mr Rogan, Mr Sean Dunne and Mr Tom Ryan for their attendance.
Then sing your gladsome carols,
And hail the newborn Son;
For Christmas light is passing bright,
It smiles on everyone;
And feast Christ’s little children,
His poor, his orphans call,
For He Who chose the Manger,
He loveth one and all.
