Basketball Update – 2nd Year

2nd Year Update
It was a busy lead into the Easter break for the 2nd year basketball team with three matches in ten days but thankfully it was a successful one with much to look forward to after the Easter break.
South Dublin League
In the South Dublin League we defeated St. Mary’s, away from home, 52-15. Jimmy Gilligan was outstanding scoring 20 twenty points, with James Harvey playing excellently on defence and Murray Baker running the game well from pointguard. ‘Rock kept up this scoring against St. Conleths winning 55-8. This is a very pleasing level of scoring to be hitting in this age group. Daniel MacDermott and Ronin O’Halloran were the outstanding performers in this game reaching double figures in their scoring.
East Leinster Plate Semi-Final
Though ‘Rock narrowly did not make it out of the group in this competition we did through our performance in the group stage qualify for the plate semi-final v St. Davids. ‘Rock kept up their performance levels with a 44-14 win. It has been a squad effort this term with a squad of 20 getting in the majority of games at least a quarter of game time each with performance levels being maintained irrespective of the 5 on court.
We look forward to the
South Dublin League Semi-Final
&
Plate Final
(dates TBC) after the break.
I thank our coaches Mr O’Neill, Callum Henry and Rob Somers (both Class 2016).
