Basketball – U19 East Leinster Semi Final – BC v Adamstown CC

U 19’s South Dublin League
Semi Final

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 53 | ADAMSTOWN CC 41 |
Having lost to Adamstown in both the East-Leinster final and All-Ireland final by 3 and 4 points respectively two years ago, and the fact that Adamstown has two Irish internationals in their squad, our seniors were well aware of the challenge that this away match against the reigning champions presented. This was a gruelling, intense match that came down to the very last minute of the game.
We were outstanding in the first half and had control of the game leading 35-20 at halftime. However Adamstown fought back strongly in the third quarter and closed the gap to 4 points at one stage. Under major pressure we showed incredible composure and togetherness to play some outstanding basketball in the final quarter to secure victory.
Nicolas Brusasca (4th Year), Seán Landner (5th Year) and Karl Conroy (6th Year) all hit three point shots at crucial stages. Robert Brusasca (5th Year) ran the game excellently from pointguard. Captain Barry O’Sullivan (6th Year) was dominant on rebounds at both ends of the court.
We wish Barry and his squad well in the final against Castleknock, C.C., on Wednesday, 6th December which will be held in the Oblate Hall Inchicore at 1.45 p.m.
I thank our coaches Mr O’Neill, Calum Henry (Class of 2016) and Rob Somers (Class of 2017) for their dedication to Basketball at Blackrock.
