Basketball – All Ireland Senior League Playoffs

On Sunday last, 21st January the U-19 Basketball team travelled to Marist College, Dundalk to compete in the All-Ireland playoffs. We won one and lost one and this unfortunately fell short of qualifying for an All-Ireland semi-final in our first year competing at this level. It was a fantastic achievement for the team. The results were as follows:

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 51 | MARIST COLLEGE 28 |
It was an outstanding performance from the team. Missing both Roberto (5th Year) and Nicholas (4th Year) Brusasca, Rob Kelly, Hart Shen and Garry Byrne (all 5th Year) stepped in and played excellently along with the regulars of Seán Lardner (5thYear), Karl Conroy and Barry O’Sullivan (all 6th Year).

BLACKROCK COLLEGE 40 | ST. PAUL’S MONASTEREVIN 62 |
St. Paul’s were absolutely outstanding and ran out deserving winners. However ‘Rock must take great pride in being so close to an All-Ireland semi-final in our first year at this level and we look forward to the challenge next season.

Next up for Barry O’Sullivan (Captain) and his squad is the South Dublin League semi-final at home to St. Columbas Wednesday 31st January at 2.30.
I thank our coach Mr O’Neill for his great work with the squad.
