2ND YEAR SCIFEST COMPETITION
This year’s Scifest Competition – the projects are on display in the Senior Wing Science Corridor – has been fantastic. Every 2nd Year involved. 123 projects in total on almost every possible topic topic imaginable. The level of scientific enquiry, – conjecture, empirical research and/or experiment followed by the outcome – and presentation skills are of a very high standard.
There were 2 Competitions:
1. Sail Ireland
2. Does the position of the sun in the sky effect the amount of energy collected by a solar cell?
3. The Leidenfrost effect
2. Does Cold Water Swimming affect your cognitive functioning?
3. The Power of Colour
We congratulate not just the Winners but the entire group.
I urge each one of the 2nd Years to join the Science Club, i/c Mr Rowsome, and to further develop their projects. The Young Scientist Competition in 2016 should be their goal.
I thank Mr Aylward, Ms Kelly and all the 2nd Year Science Teachers for their encouragement and preparation of the boys.
