2nd Year Inter-House Rugby 10s Competition

There was a great turnout of boys, parents and family members for the 2^nd Year Inter-House Rugby 10’s held on Saturday last, 17^th September.

In the ‘A’ blitz, we congratulate Niall Brophy and his Leman squad on their victory over a valiant De Valera squad captained by Sean Dempsey.  Shanahan (Captain Max Patterson) and Ebenrecht (Captain David Nagle) had lost out in the Semi-Finals while Duff (Captain Robert Harvey) pipped McQuaid (Captain Seb Coleman) in an exciting 5^th V 6^th play-off.  Thomas Henderson (De Valera) was player of the tournament.

In the ‘B’ division final, Duff (Captain Rory Barry) beat Ebenrecht (Captain Matthew Canacott) with McQuaid (Captain Robbie Gallagher) and De Valera (Captain David Arbuthnott) beaten Semi-Finalists.  Shanahan (Captain Charlie Mullin) beat Leman (Captain Hugh McNeil) in the 5^th/6^th place play-off.  Matthew Canacott (Ebenrecht) was awarded player of the tournament while Rory O’Gorman (Duff) was given a special award for tackler of the tournament.

It was a great festival of rugby.  I thank my colleagues Mr Maher, Mr Somerville, Mr Grumley-Traynor, Mr Brennan, Mr Evan O’Brien; past pupils, Conor Kilcoyne, Christian Delaney, Dillon Coghlan, Jake Ward and the busy Maura Fitzgerald, in the nurses’ station, all of whom made it possible.
